Definition
An episiotomy is a medical procedure in which a doctor or midwife makes a cut in the perineum (the area between the vagina and anus) during childbirth to widen the vaginal opening, typically to help deliver the baby or to prevent uncontrolled tearing.
एपीज़ियोटॉमी एक चिकित्सीय प्रक्रिया है जिसमें प्रसव के दौरान डॉक्टर या दाई पेरिनियम (योनि और गुदा के बीच का भाग) में चीरा लगाकर योनि के मुख को चौड़ा करते हैं, ताकि बच्चे का जन्म कराने में मदद मिले या अनियंत्रित फटने (टियर) से बचाव किया जा सके।
