From scientific Latin endoperidium, formed from Greek endo- “within” + peridium (from Greek pēridion “small pouch/bag,” diminutive of pēra “bag”).

Definition
The endoperidium is the inner, usually thinner wall of the peridium that encloses the spore mass; it may open by a pore or tear to release spores in certain fungi (e.g., puffballs, earthstars).
