Origin & History
From French émagram, used in meteorology for a specific thermodynamic chart; associated with the use of the Greek letter eta (η) in older thermodynamic formulations and the suffix -gram (“diagram/record”).

Definition
An emagram is a type of aerological (upper-air) thermodynamic chart on which a radiosonde sounding is plotted; it helps meteorologists assess lapse rates, atmospheric stability, cloud potential, and convection by comparing temperature and dew point with reference lines.
