Definition
Electrowinning is a hydrometallurgical process in which dissolved metal ions in an electrolyte are reduced and deposited as solid metal on a cathode by applying electric current; it is widely used to recover copper, zinc, nickel, cobalt, and other metals from leach solutions.
इलेक्ट्रोविनिंग एक हाइड्रोमेटलर्जिकल प्रक्रिया है जिसमें इलेक्ट्रोलाइट में घुले धातु आयनों को विद्युत धारा लगाने पर अपचय करके कैथोड पर ठोस धातु के रूप में जमाया जाता है; इसका उपयोग लीच घोलों से ताँबा, जस्ता, निकेल, कोबाल्ट आदि धातुओं की पुनर्प्राप्ति के लिए व्यापक रूप से किया जाता है।
