ग्रीक doxa (अर्थ: “मत/राय”) + -graphy (अर्थ: “लेखन/अभिलेखन”) से, doxography के माध्यम से; तथा अंग्रेज़ी विशेषण-प्रत्यय -al जोड़कर बना।
Definition
Describing works or methods that systematically collect, summarize, compare, or classify the opinions and doctrines of past philosophers or schools (often as reported by later writers).
ऐसे ग्रंथों या पद्धतियों का वर्णन जो पूर्व दार्शनिकों या परंपराओं के मतों/सिद्धांतों को (अक्सर बाद के लेखकों द्वारा वर्णित रूप में) व्यवस्थित रूप से इकट्ठा करते, सारांशित करते, तुलना करते या वर्गीकृत करते हैं।
