लैटिन dis- (निषेध/विपरीत) + ingenuus (अर्थ: स्वाभाविक/सीधा-सादा/ईमानदार; मूलतः ‘स्वतंत्र जन्म का’) से बना; अर्थ हुआ ‘ingenuous (निष्कपट) नहीं’, यानी बनावटी या छलपूर्ण।
Definition
Someone who is disingenuous appears frank, innocent, or honest but is actually hiding motives, manipulating, or being misleading. It can describe people, remarks, questions, or behavior that seems open but is not truly sincere.
जो व्यक्ति या बात ऊपर से सरल, निष्कपट या ईमानदार लगे, लेकिन अंदर से छिपे इरादों के साथ भ्रामक या चालाक हो, उसे disingenuous कहते हैं। यह व्यक्ति, टिप्पणी, प्रश्न या व्यवहार के लिए प्रयोग होता है जो दिखावे में खुला लगे पर वास्तव में सच्चा/ईमानदार नहीं होता।
