From Middle English via Old French discret, from Latin discretus (“separated, distinct; discerning”), past participle of discernere (“to separate, distinguish”). Modern sense developed toward “prudent, tactful; keeping confidence.”
यह शब्द मिडिल इंग्लिश में ओल्ड फ़्रेंच discret के माध्यम से आया, जो लैटिन discretus (“अलग/पृथक; सूझ-बूझ वाला, विवेकशील”) से निकला है; यह discernere (“अलग करना, भेद करना”) का past participle है। आधुनिक अर्थ धीरे-धीरे “सावधान, तक्तपूर्ण; गोपनीयता निभाने वाला” की ओर विकसित हुआ।
Definition
Discreet describes someone who is careful about what they say or do, keeping sensitive information private and acting in a tactful, unobtrusive way (not drawing attention). It is different from “discrete” (separate, distinct).
Discreet उस व्यक्ति को कहते हैं जो बोलने या काम करने में सावधान और संयमित हो, खासकर ताकि ध्यान न खींचे, किसी को असहज न करे, और निजी/संवेदनशील बातों को गोपनीय रखे; अर्थात् विनम्र, तर्कसंगत और बिना दिखावा किए व्यवहार करने वाला। यह “discrete” (अलग, पृथक) से अलग शब्द है।
