From the verb “ding,” an imitative (onomatopoeic) word for a ringing sound; later also used for a small dent or slight damage.
“Ding” से व्युत्पन्न; यह मूलतः घंटी जैसी ‘टन’ ध्वनि की नकल करने वाला (अनुनादात्मक) शब्द है, बाद में इसका प्रयोग छोटे डेंट/हल्के नुकसान के अर्थ में भी होने लगा।
