Definition
Dictums are authoritative or dogmatic statements (like maxims), and in legal contexts they can mean judges’ remarks that are not necessary to decide the case (obiter dicta).
'Dictums' का अर्थ अधिकारपूर्ण/आदेशात्मक कथन या सूक्ति/सूत्रवाक्य होता है; विधि (कानून) में यह न्यायाधीश की वे टिप्पणियाँ भी हो सकती हैं जो मामले का निर्णय करने के लिए आवश्यक नहीं होतीं (ओबिटर डिक्टा)।
