Probably from a children’s slang use meaning “a share/portion,” possibly influenced by “dib” meaning a small amount; first widely recorded in the early 20th century in American English.
संभवतः बच्चों की बोलचाल से आया शब्द, जिसमें “हिस्सा/भाग” का भाव था; “dib” (थोड़ी मात्रा/छोटा हिस्सा) से भी प्रभाव माना जाता है। अमेरिकी अंग्रेज़ी में इसका प्रचलन/दर्ज होना मुख्यतः 20वीं सदी की शुरुआत में मिलता है।
