From Latin despondēre (“to give up, lose hope”), via Late Latin/Medieval Latin despondent-, later used in English as an adjective meaning ‘without hope’.
लैटिन despondēre (“हार मानना/आशा छोड़ देना”) से, (लेट/मध्ययुगीन लैटिन despondent- के माध्यम से) और बाद में अंग्रेज़ी में विशेषण के रूप में ‘आशाहीन’ अर्थ में प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
Despondent describes a person who has lost hope or confidence and feels deeply discouraged, often after disappointment or ongoing difficulties.
