Plural of demon; from Middle English 'demon', from Late Latin 'daemon', from Greek 'daimōn' meaning a divine power or spirit (later sense shifted toward an evil spirit in Christian usage).
'डेमन्स' शब्द 'demon' का बहुवचन है; यह मध्य अंग्रेज़ी 'demon' से, जो लेटिन 'daemon' से और यूनानी 'daimōn' (अर्थ: देव-शक्ति/आत्मा) से आया है; बाद में ईसाई परंपरा में इसका अर्थ अधिकतर ‘दुष्ट आत्मा’ की ओर झुक गया।
Definition
Demons are evil supernatural spirits in many religions and myths, thought to harm people or lead them into wrongdoing; in modern figurative use, 'demons' can mean a person’s persistent fears, guilt, addictions, or psychological struggles.
डेमन/राक्षस कई धर्मों और कथाओं में बुरी अलौकिक आत्माएँ मानी जाती हैं जो लोगों को नुकसान पहुँचाती हैं या गलत काम की ओर बहकाती हैं; आधुनिक रूपक प्रयोग में 'डेमन्स' का अर्थ किसी व्यक्ति के लगातार बने रहने वाले डर, अपराधबोध, लत या मानसिक संघर्ष भी हो सकता है।
