In law, a defendant is the person or organization that must answer a claim or charge in court (civil or criminal) and may defend themselves against it.
कानून में, defendant वह व्यक्ति या संस्था है जिसके विरुद्ध अदालत में (दीवानी या फौजदारी) दावा/मुकदमा या आरोप लगाया जाता है और जिसे उसका जवाब देना तथा अपना बचाव करना होता है।
