Origin & History
From Middle English dais, from Old French deis, ultimately from Latin discus (“disk, table”), referring to a table/raised place of honour.
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी dais से, पुरानी फ़्रेंच deis के माध्यम से; मूलतः लैटिन discus (“चक्र/थाली, मेज़”) से, जो सम्मान के लिए ऊँचे स्थान/मेज़ के अर्थ की ओर विकसित हुआ।
Definition
A dais is a raised platform in a room or hall, used for a seat of honour, a throne, a high table for important people, or a place to stand and speak (similar to a platform for a lectern/pulpit).
डाइस (dais) किसी कक्ष या सभागार में बना हुआ ऊँचा मंच होता है, जिसका उपयोग सम्मानित आसन, सिंहासन, महत्वपूर्ण लोगों के लिए ऊँची मेज़ (हाई टेबल), या भाषण/वाचन हेतु खड़े होने के स्थान (लेकटर्न/पल्पिट के मंच जैसा) के रूप में किया जाता है।
