Cross-bedding is a sedimentary feature where sets of inclined layers (cross-beds) are deposited at an angle to the overall bedding, typically produced by migrating ripples or dunes in rivers, deltas, beaches, deserts, or underwater currents; it helps geologists infer flow direction and depositional environment.
क्रॉस-बेडिंग एक अवसादी संरचना है जिसमें तिरछी परतों (क्रॉस-बेड्स) के समूह मुख्य/समग्र बेडिंग के सापेक्ष कोण पर जमते हैं; यह आम तौर पर नदी, डेल्टा, तट, रेगिस्तान या जलधारा में लहरिकाओं/टीले (रिपल्स/ड्यून्स) के खिसकने से बनती है और इससे प्रवाह-दिशा व जमाव-पर्यावरण का अनुमान लगाने में मदद मिलती है।
