From French corniche, ultimately related to Italian cornice; the architectural sense is older, and the cliff-road/promontory sense developed later by extension.

Definition
A corniche is (1) a decorative ledge/molding that projects from the top of a wall or over a doorway/window in architecture, and (2) a narrow road or shelf-like ledge cut along a steep cliff, often by the sea.
कॉर्नीश (1) वास्तुकला में दीवार के ऊपरी हिस्से पर बाहर की ओर निकला सजावटी उभार/पट्टी (मोल्डिंग) होता है, और (2) खड़ी चट्टान की ढलान पर काटकर बनाई गई संकरी सड़क या शेल्फ़ जैसी कगार, अक्सर समुद्र-तट के पास।
