Origin & History
From earlier English meaning “pit for cockfighting” (cock + pit), later applied (18th–19th c.) to a cramped area on a ship and then to the control area of aircraft and vehicles.
पहले के अंग्रेज़ी अर्थ “मुर्गों की लड़ाई का गड्ढा/अखाड़ा” (cock + pit) से; बाद में (18वीं–19वीं सदी) जहाज़ के तंग हिस्से के लिए और फिर विमान/वाहनों के नियंत्रण-कक्ष के अर्थ में प्रयुक्त होने लगा।
Definition
A cockpit is the place where the pilot or driver sits and uses the main controls and instruments to operate a vehicle, especially an airplane; by extension it can mean any place of intense activity or conflict.
कॉकपिट वह स्थान है जहाँ पायलट या चालक बैठकर मुख्य नियंत्रणों और उपकरणों की मदद से वाहन (विशेषकर विमान) चलाता है; विस्तृत अर्थ में यह तीव्र गतिविधि या संघर्ष के केंद्र को भी दर्शा सकता है।
