Coined in the mid-20th century from clado- (from Greek klados “branch”) + -gram (“something written/drawn”), used in cladistics to denote a branching relationship diagram.
यह शब्द 20वीं शताब्दी के मध्य में clado- (यूनानी klados, अर्थ “शाखा”) + -gram (“लिखित/आरेखित वस्तु”) से गढ़ा गया; क्लैडिस्टिक्स में शाखायुक्त संबंध-आरेख के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है।
Definition
A cladogram is a tree-like diagram used in cladistics to show how different organisms (or groups) are related through common ancestry, based on shared derived traits (synapomorphies); branch points (nodes) indicate inferred common ancestors and the branching order reflects relatedness, not necessarily time or amount of change.
