From Latin cirrus meaning “curl, ringlet; tuft of hair,” later used in New Latin for “curl-like cloud.”
लैटिन शब्द cirrus से, जिसका अर्थ “घुँघराली लट/गुच्छा” था; बाद में न्यू लैटिन में “घुँघराले/रेशेदार बादल” के अर्थ में प्रयोग होने लगा।
Definition
Cirrus refers most commonly to very high-altitude, feathery clouds composed of ice crystals, often seen as white streaks in a blue sky; in scientific contexts it can also mean a slender, hairlike or tentacle-like appendage.
सिरस सामान्यतः बहुत ऊँचाई पर बनने वाले बर्फ़ के कणों से बने पतले, रेशेदार/पंखनुमा बादलों को कहते हैं, जो नीले आकाश में सफ़ेद धारियों जैसे दिखते हैं; वैज्ञानिक संदर्भों में यह किसी पतली, बाल-जैसी या स्पर्शक-जैसी उपांग/रचना के लिए भी प्रयोग होता है।
