From Greek chylos “juice, chyle” + thorax “chest”; formed in medical Latin/modern medical terminology to denote chyle in the chest (pleural cavity).
ग्रीक ‘chylos’ (रस/काइल) + ‘thorax’ (वक्ष/छाती) से; चिकित्सा-लैटिन/आधुनिक चिकित्सा शब्दावली में ‘छाती (प्लूरल गुहा) में काइल’ के अर्थ में बना।
Definition
Chylothorax is a medical condition in which chyle leaks from the thoracic duct or other lymphatic vessels and collects in the pleural space, often causing shortness of breath and requiring drainage and treatment of the underlying cause.
काइलोथोरैक्स एक चिकित्सीय स्थिति है जिसमें वक्ष-नलिका (थोरेसिक डक्ट) या अन्य लसीका वाहिकाओं से काइल (वसा-समृद्ध लसीका द्रव) रिसकर फेफड़ों के चारों ओर की प्लूरल गुहा में जमा हो जाता है; इससे अक्सर सांस फूलना होता है और द्रव निकालने तथा मूल कारण का उपचार आवश्यक हो सकता है।
