Origin & History
From Latin centum (“hundred”) + gradus (“step/degree”): originally meaning “divided into a hundred degrees”; the temperature sense later became standardized and is now officially called Celsius (since 1948).
लैटिन centum (अर्थ: ‘सौ’) + gradus (अर्थ: ‘कदम/डिग्री’) से बना; मूल अर्थ ‘सौ भागों/डिग्रियों में विभाजित’ था। तापमान वाला अर्थ बाद में मानकीकृत हुआ और 1948 से आधिकारिक नाम ‘सेल्सियस’ है।
Definition
Centigrade usually means the Celsius temperature scale, defined by 0° for the freezing point of water and 100° for the boiling point at standard pressure; it can also mean one degree on that scale, and in angle measurement it can mean a gradian (gon), 1/100 of a right angle.
सेंटिग्रेड सामान्यतः सेल्सियस तापमान पैमाने को कहते हैं, जिसमें मानक दाब पर पानी का जमाव बिंदु 0° और उबलाव बिंदु 100° माना जाता है; इसका अर्थ इस पैमाने की एक डिग्री भी हो सकता है, और कोण मापन में यह ग्रेडियन/गॉन (समकोण का 1/100) भी दर्शा सकता है।
