Definition
A centaur is best known from Greek mythology: a creature that is half human and half horse (horse body with a human head and torso). In modern technical uses, “Centaur” can also mean an icy minor planet orbiting the Sun between Jupiter and Neptune, and in chess it can mean a team where a human and a computer cooperate to play.
सेंटौर (Centaur) का सबसे प्रसिद्ध अर्थ यूनानी मिथक-कथाओं से है: ऐसा प्राणी जो आधा मनुष्य और आधा घोड़ा होता है (घोड़े का शरीर और मनुष्य का सिर व धड़)। आधुनिक तकनीकी प्रयोगों में “Centaur” का अर्थ बृहस्पति और नेपच्यून के बीच सूर्य की परिक्रमा करने वाला बर्फीला लघु ग्रह/पिंड भी हो सकता है, और शतरंज में यह ऐसे दल को भी दर्शाता है जिसमें मनुष्य और कंप्यूटर मिलकर खेलते हैं।
