A carbuncle is a large, inflamed cluster of boils caused by bacterial infection, typically filled with pus and often accompanied by redness, pain, and sometimes fever; historically, the word also referred to a red gemstone (often a garnet) resembling a glowing coal.
कार्बंकल त्वचा पर होने वाला बड़ा, सूजनयुक्त और मवाद-भरा फोड़ा/फुंसी का गुच्छा है, जो आमतौर पर बैक्टीरियल संक्रमण से होता है और इसमें लालिमा, दर्द तथा कभी-कभी बुखार भी हो सकता है; ऐतिहासिक रूप से यह शब्द लाल रत्न (अक्सर गार्नेट) के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता था जो जलते हुए कोयले जैसा दिखता है।
