From French carafe, via Italian caraffa, from Arabic gharāfa (“a ladle; act of scooping water”).
यह शब्द फ़्रेंच carafe से आया है; फ़्रेंच में यह इतालवी caraffa के माध्यम से पहुँचा, और इसकी जड़ अरबी gharāfa (अर्थ: ‘कलछी/चुल्लू; पानी उलीचने/भरने की क्रिया’) में मानी जाती है।

A carafe is a bottle-like container, usually made of glass (sometimes metal), used to hold and pour beverages such as water, wine, juice, or coffee, often placed on a table for serving.
