From Middle English butchere, from Old French bochier/bouchier (“butcher”), related to words for a male goat (bouc) and slaughtering; the sense “to ruin by doing badly” is later figurative.
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी butchere से, जो पुरानी फ़्रेंच bochier/bouchier (“कसाई”) से आया; इसका संबंध नर बकरे (bouc) और वध/काटने से जुड़े शब्दों से माना जाता है। “काम/भाषा को बिगाड़ देना” वाला अर्थ बाद में रूपक रूप में विकसित हुआ।
Definition
A butcher is a person whose job is to slaughter animals and cut up and sell meat; in figurative use it can mean someone who kills many people cruelly, or someone who ruins a task by doing it badly.
कसाई वह व्यक्ति है जिसका काम जानवरों को ज़बह/वध करके उनका मांस काटना और बेचना होता है; रूपक रूप में यह ऐसे व्यक्ति के लिए भी कहा जाता है जो बहुत लोगों को निर्दयता से मारता है, या जो किसी काम को खराब/बिगाड़ देता है।
