From German Bunker (“bench/box; protective shelter”), later used in English for fuel storage and military shelters; golf sense developed from the idea of a hollow or dug-out hazard.

Definition
A bunker is usually a strongly built shelter, often partly or fully underground, meant to protect people from bombs or attacks; the word is also used for a coal/fuel storage container (including on ships) and for a sand trap on a golf course.
बंकर आम तौर पर एक मज़बूत आश्रय-स्थल होता है, जो अक्सर आंशिक या पूर्ण रूप से भूमिगत होता है और लोगों को बमबारी या हमलों से बचाने के लिए बनाया जाता है; यह शब्द कोयला/ईंधन रखने के भंडार (जहाज़ों पर भी) और गोल्फ़ के मैदान में रेत वाले गड्ढे (सैंड ट्रैप) के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है।
