From Middle English breeding (bringing up, rearing), from breed (to produce offspring; to rear), influenced by Old English brēdan (“to nourish, cherish, rear”) and later used for reproduction and selective improvement.
Middle English के breeding (पालन-पोषण/परवरिश) से; यह breed (संतान उत्पन्न करना; पालन करना) से बना, जिस पर Old English brēdan (“पोषण करना, स्नेह से पालना, परवरिश करना”) का प्रभाव था; बाद में इसका प्रयोग प्रजनन और चयनात्मक सुधार के अर्थ में भी होने लगा।
Definition
Breeding refers to producing offspring by mating, and to the controlled selection and raising of animals or plants to develop desired traits (e.g., healthier livestock, higher-yield crops). It can also mean a person’s upbringing or training in manners and conduct.
Breeding का अर्थ संतान उत्पन्न करने हेतु प्रजनन/संयोग से है, और साथ ही वांछित गुण विकसित करने के लिए पशुओं या पौधों का चयनात्मक प्रजनन व पालन-पोषण भी है (जैसे अधिक स्वस्थ पशुधन, अधिक उपज वाली फसलें)। इसका अर्थ व्यक्ति की परवरिश या शिष्टाचार/आचरण की शिक्षा भी हो सकता है।
