From bread (as a symbol of basic food/livelihood) + winner (“one who wins/earns”), originally meaning one who earns the bread for a household; recorded in English from the early 19th century.
यह bread (जीविका/रोज़मर्रा के भोजन का प्रतीक) + winner (कमाने/अर्जित करने वाला) से बना है; मूल अर्थ घर के लिए ‘रोटी’ (जीविका) कमाने वाला व्यक्ति था। अंग्रेज़ी में इसका प्रयोग 19वीं सदी की शुरुआत से मिलता है।

A breadwinner is the person who provides most or all of the money needed for a household’s living expenses (such as food, rent, bills, and education), often supporting dependents.
