From French botanisme, from botanique (“botany”), ultimately from Greek botanikē (tekhnē) “(art) of herbs/plants,” from botane “plant, pasture, fodder.”

Definition
Botanism is the branch of biology that focuses on plants (and often fungi and algae in broader usage), covering how plants are built, how they function, how they reproduce, and how they are identified and classified.
