From French borneol, from Borneo (island in Southeast Asia), where it was originally obtained as a resinous product; ultimately from the place name Borneo + chemical suffix -ol (alcohol).

Definition
Borneol is a naturally occurring aromatic terpene alcohol (C10H18O), obtained from certain plants and also made synthetically; it is used for its characteristic camphor-like scent and in pharmaceuticals, traditional remedies, and fragrance formulations.
बोर्नियोल एक प्राकृतिक सुगंधित टरपीन अल्कोहल (C10H18O) है, जो कुछ पौधों से प्राप्त होता है और कृत्रिम रूप से भी बनाया जाता है; इसका उपयोग इसकी कपूर-जैसी गंध के लिए तथा औषधियों, पारंपरिक उपचारों और सुगंध/इत्र के निर्माण में किया जाता है।
