Origin & History

From Old English boren, past participle of beran “to bear, carry; to give birth”, from Proto-Germanic *beraną.

पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी boren से, जो beran (“उठाना/धारण करना; जन्म देना”) का भूतकालिक कृदंत (past participle) है; इसका मूल प्रोटो-जर्मैनिक *beraną में मिलता है।

Definition

“Born” is mainly used as an adjective meaning ‘having come into life’ or ‘originating from a particular place/time’, and also in phrases like ‘born to’ (naturally suited) and ‘born and bred’ (raised in a place). It is also the past participle of ‘bear’ meaning ‘to give birth to’.
