From English book + worm; originally a literal reference to insects/larvae that damage books, later used figuratively for a person devoted to reading (recorded from the 16th–17th centuries).
अंग्रेज़ी book (किताब) + worm (कीड़ा) से; पहले यह सचमुच किताबों को नुकसान पहुँचाने वाले कीड़ों के लिए बोला जाता था, बाद में रूपक रूप में बहुत पढ़ने वाले व्यक्ति के अर्थ में चलन में आया (लगभग 16वीं–17वीं शताब्दी से)।
Definition
A bookworm is someone who loves reading and spends a lot of time with books, often reading for pleasure or study; it can also be used jokingly for someone who is always studying.
'बुकवर्म' वह व्यक्ति होता है जिसे पढ़ना बहुत पसंद होता है और जो किताबों के साथ बहुत समय बिताता है—मनोरंजन या पढ़ाई के लिए; कभी-कभी यह शब्द मज़ाक में बहुत ज़्यादा पढ़ने/पढ़ाई करने वाले व्यक्ति के लिए भी कहा जाता है।
