From New Latin blennius, from Greek blénnos (“mucus, slime”), referring to the slimy coating of some fishes.

Definition
A blenny is generally a small, slender sea fish that lives on or near the sea floor; in biology it refers to true blennies (suborder Blennioidei / order Blenniiformes), and the name is also sometimes used loosely for unrelated fish with a similar look.
ब्लेनी सामान्यतः एक छोटी, पतली समुद्री मछली होती है जो समुद्र तल पर या उसके पास रहती है; जीवविज्ञान में यह ‘ट्रू ब्लेनी’ (उपगण Blennioidei / गण Blenniiformes) के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है, और कभी-कभी मिलते-जुलते रूप वाली, पर निकट संबंधी न होने वाली मछलियों के लिए भी ढीले अर्थ में कहा जाता है।
