Biofuel is a renewable fuel produced from biomass (living or recently living organic matter) such as crops, plant oils, agricultural residues, algae, or animal waste; common examples include ethanol and biodiesel, and it is often promoted to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lower net greenhouse-gas emissions.
