Definition
Awadh (also spelled Oudh) refers to a culturally important historical region in northern India, famed for its Nawabi era, Lucknowi culture, Urdu-Hindi literary traditions, and distinctive cuisine; it was also a former kingdom/princely state under the Nawabs of Awadh.
अवध (जिसे ‘औध’ भी लिखा जाता है) उत्तर भारत का एक सांस्कृतिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण ऐतिहासिक क्षेत्र है, जो नवाबी दौर, लखनवी तहज़ीब, उर्दू-हिंदी साहित्यिक परंपराओं और विशिष्ट खानपान के लिए प्रसिद्ध है; यह अवध के नवाबों के अधीन एक पूर्व राज्य/रियासत भी रहा है।
