ग्रीक auto- (अर्थ: ‘स्वयं’) + -graphy (अर्थ: ‘लेखन’) से, विद्वत/नव-लैटिन प्रयोगों के माध्यम से; अंग्रेज़ी में इसके अर्थ स्वहस्त-लेखन और लिथोग्राफिक स्थानांतरण से जुड़े रूप में मिलते हैं।
Definition
Autography primarily means writing done in a person’s own handwriting; in printing, it can mean a lithographic method where writing or a drawing is transferred from paper to a stone/plate; more rarely, it is used to mean an autobiography.
ऑटोग्राफी का मुख्य अर्थ किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा अपने ही हाथ से किया गया लेखन है; मुद्रण में यह लिथोग्राफी की वह विधि भी हो सकती है जिसमें कागज़ पर लिखे/बने पाठ या चित्र को पत्थर/प्लेट पर स्थानांतरित किया जाता है; और कभी-कभी (दुर्लभ रूप से) इसका अर्थ आत्मकथा भी होता है।
