Definition
Assimilationism is the ideology or policy that expects or encourages cultural minorities (such as immigrants, ethnic groups, or Indigenous peoples) to give up distinct identities and conform to the dominant society’s culture, often emphasizing unity through sameness rather than multicultural coexistence.
