From Icelandic Askja, literally “box” or “caldera,” used as a place-name for the depression; related to the idea of a “box-like” basin.
आइसलैंडिक ‘Askja’ से, जिसका शाब्दिक अर्थ “डिब्बा/बक्सा” या “कैल्डेरा” है; यह नाम उस अवसाद/गर्त के लिए स्थान-नाम के रूप में प्रयुक्त हुआ, जिसका आकार ‘डिब्बेनुमा’ कटोरे जैसा माना गया।
Definition
Askja is the name of a major caldera (a large volcanic depression formed after an eruption and collapse) in Iceland’s central highlands; it is part of the Askja volcanic system and contains crater lakes such as Öskjuvatn and the geothermal crater Víti.
Askja आइसलैंड के मध्य उच्चभूमि में स्थित एक प्रमुख कैल्डेरा (विस्फोट और धंसाव के बाद बना बड़ा ज्वालामुखीय गड्ढा/अवसाद) का नाम है; यह Askja ज्वालामुखीय तंत्र का हिस्सा है और इसमें Öskjuvatn तथा ऊष्मीय क्रेटर Víti जैसी क्रेटर झीलें हैं।
