From Middle English via Old French, from Late Latin archangelus, from Greek arkhangelos (arkhi- ‘chief’ + angelos ‘messenger’).

Definition
An archangel is a powerful angel believed to have a high rank among angels, often assigned major duties such as delivering important messages, leading other angels, or protecting people and nations in religious traditions (especially Christianity, Judaism, and Islam).
आर्कएंजेल (महादूत) एक शक्तिशाली और उच्च पद वाला देवदूत माना जाता है, जिसे अक्सर महत्वपूर्ण संदेश पहुँचाने, अन्य देवदूतों का नेतृत्व करने, या धर्मपरंपराओं (विशेषकर ईसाई, यहूदी और इस्लामी) में लोगों व राष्ट्रों की रक्षा जैसे बड़े कार्य सौंपे जाते हैं।
