मध्य अंग्रेज़ी arch(e) से, जो पुरानी फ़्रेंच arche से आया; इसका मूल लैटिन arcus है जिसका अर्थ “धनुष, वक्र/मेहराब” है।
Definition
Arch refers mainly to (1) a curved structure that supports weight above an opening (like a doorway or bridge), (2) any curved/arched shape (e.g., eyebrows, the arch of the foot), and (3) as a verb, to bend into a curve.
'Arch' का अर्थ मुख्यतः (1) किसी खुली जगह (दरवाज़ा/पुल) के ऊपर भार सँभालने वाली वक्र संरचना, (2) कोई भी धनुषाकार/वक्र आकृति (जैसे भौंहों का मेहराब, पैर का आर्च), और (3) क्रिया के रूप में—वक्र बनाना/धनुषाकार करना।
