Formed in technical English by combining arc (electric arc, from Latin arcus “bow/arch,” later used for arc-shaped discharge) + proof (“resistant to”), yielding a compound meaning “resistant to electric arc effects.”
तकनीकी अंग्रेज़ी में arc (इलेक्ट्रिक आर्क; लैटिन arcus ‘धनुष/वक्र’ से, बाद में आर्क-जैसे निर्वहन के लिए) + proof (‘रोधी/प्रतिरोधी’) के संयोजन से बना यौगिक शब्द, जिसका अर्थ है ‘विद्युत आर्क के प्रभावों के प्रति प्रतिरोधी’।
Definition
Arc-proof describes materials, enclosures, components, or designs made to withstand electric arcing (an electrical discharge through air) without igniting, deteriorating, or allowing the arc to escape; used in switchgear, circuit breakers, panels, and protective housings.
Arc-proof उन सामग्री/आवरण/पुर्ज़ों या डिज़ाइन को कहते हैं जो विद्युत आर्किंग (हवा के माध्यम से होने वाला विद्युत निर्वहन) से होने वाले प्रज्वलन, क्षति या खराबी को रोकने/सहन करने के लिए बनाए जाते हैं; यह स्विचगियर, सर्किट ब्रेकर, पैनल और सुरक्षा आवरणों में प्रयुक्त होता है।
