From Middle English arable, from Old French arable, from Latin arabilis (“able to be ploughed”), from arare (“to plough”).
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी arable से; पुरानी फ़्रांसीसी arable के माध्यम से; लैटिन arabilis (“जिसे जोता जा सके/हल चलाया जा सके”) से, जो arare (“हल चलाना/जोतना”) से बना है।
Definition
Arable describes land that can be plowed or tilled and is suitable for growing crops (often contrasted with grazing/pasture land). In some agricultural/NGO usage, it also means land that is under cultivation within a given period for crops sown and harvested in the same agricultural year.
Arable उस भूमि को कहते हैं जिसे जोता/उल्टा-पलटा (हल चलाकर) जा सकता है और जो फसल उगाने के लिए उपयुक्त हो (अक्सर चरागाह/पशु-चराई वाली भूमि के विपरीत)। कुछ कृषि/NGO प्रयोग में इसका अर्थ ऐसी भूमि भी है जो किसी निश्चित अवधि में खेती के अंतर्गत हो, जहाँ एक ही कृषि-वर्ष में बोई और काटी जाने वाली फसलें उगाई जाती हों।
