Origin & History
From Greek a- 'not' + planē 'wandering' (as in 'planet'), via scientific/optical usage; literally 'not wandering', i.e., not producing wandering/distorted images.
यूनानी a- ‘नहीं/रहित’ + planē ‘भटकना’ (जैसे ‘planet’ में), वैज्ञानिक/ऑप्टिक्स-प्रयोग के माध्यम से; शाब्दिक अर्थ ‘न भटकने वाला’, अर्थात भटकी/विकृत छवि न बनाने वाला।
Definition
Applanatic describes a lens or optical system designed so that certain aberrations (especially spherical aberration, and often coma) are corrected, giving a sharp image across the field.
अप्लानैटिक (applanatic) ऐसे लेंस/ऑप्टिकल सिस्टम को कहते हैं जिसे इस तरह बनाया गया हो कि कुछ अपवर्तन-दोष (विशेषकर स्फेरिकल एबरेशन, और कई बार कोमा) सुधर जाएँ, जिससे छवि अधिक तेज़ और कम विकृत बने।
