From Arabic anṣār (أَنْصَار) ‘helpers, supporters’, plural of nāṣir ‘helper’, from the root n-ṣ-r ‘to help’.
अरबी anṣār (أَنْصَار) से, अर्थ ‘सहायक/समर्थक’, जो nāṣir ‘सहायक’ का बहुवचन है; यह n-ṣ-r धातु/मूल से जुड़ा है जिसका अर्थ ‘मदद करना’ है।
Definition
Ansar refers to the people of Medina (notably from the tribes Aws and Khazraj) who welcomed, protected, and supported the Prophet Muhammad and the emigrant Muslims (Muhajirun) after the Hijra; by extension it can mean supporters or helpers.
अंसार उन लोगों को कहा जाता है जिन्होंने हिजरत के बाद मदीना में पैग़म्बर मुहम्मद और मुहाजिरून (प्रवासी मुसलमानों) का स्वागत, संरक्षण और समर्थन किया (विशेषतः औस और ख़ज़राज क़बीलों के लोग); व्यापक अर्थ में यह ‘सहायक/समर्थक’ के लिए भी प्रयुक्त हो सकता है।
