Origin & History
From Hebrew ʾāmēn (“surely; truly; so be it”), passing into Greek (amēn) and Latin (amen), and then into English via Christian liturgy.
यह शब्द हिब्रू ‘ʾāmēn’ (“निश्चय ही/सच में/ऐसा ही हो”) से आया, जो यूनानी (amēn) और लैटिन (amen) के माध्यम से ईसाई धर्म-परंपरा/लिटर्जी के जरिए अंग्रेज़ी में पहुँचा।
Definition
Amen is said to express solemn agreement with what has been said, especially at the end of prayers, blessings, hymns, or religious statements; it can also be used more generally to mean “I completely agree” or “that is absolutely true.”
‘Amen’ का प्रयोग किसी बात से गंभीर/पवित्र सहमति प्रकट करने के लिए किया जाता है, विशेषकर प्रार्थना, आशीर्वाद, भजन या धार्मिक कथन के अंत में; सामान्य बोलचाल में भी यह “मैं पूरी तरह सहमत हूँ” या “यह बिल्कुल सच है” के अर्थ में कहा जा सकता है।
