Definition
Alterity refers to “otherness”—the condition of being different from, or distinct from, what is familiar or considered the self; in philosophy and social theory it often describes how identities are shaped by recognizing and responding to those seen as ‘the Other’.
Alterity का अर्थ ‘अन्यता/परत्व’ (otherness) है—यानी स्वयं या परिचित/समान माने जाने वाले से भिन्न होना; दर्शन और सामाजिक सिद्धान्त में यह बताता है कि ‘दूसरे’ (the Other) को पहचानने और उसके प्रति प्रतिक्रिया करने से पहचान और संबंध कैसे बनते हैं।
