From Latin affinitas (“relationship by marriage; connection”), from affinis (“related by marriage, neighboring”), later developing senses of resemblance and attraction.
यह लैटिन affinitas (अर्थ: विवाह-संबंध; संबंध/निकटता) से आया है, जो affinis (अर्थ: विवाह से संबंधित/पड़ोसी) से बना; बाद में इसके अर्थ ‘साम्यता’ और ‘आकर्षण/लगाव’ तक विस्तृत हुए।
Definition
Affinities are natural feelings of liking or closeness, and also connections or similarities between people, groups, ideas, or things; in science they can mean a tendency of substances to combine.
Affinities का अर्थ प्राकृतिक लगाव/निकटता की भावना, तथा लोगों, समूहों, विचारों या वस्तुओं के बीच संबंध या समानता भी होता है; विज्ञान में यह पदार्थों के आपस में संयोजित होने की प्रवृत्ति के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है।
