Adrestus is a mythological proper noun used in classical literature for more than one figure; in Homer’s Iliad, Adrestus is a Trojan captured and then slain by Menelaus, and the name is also linked by ancient sources to the idea of what cannot be escaped (inevitability), sometimes connected with the goddess of retribution, Nemesis (Adrasteia).
