From Marathi abhaṅg (अभंग), literally “unbroken, uninterrupted” (a- ‘not’ + bhaṅg ‘break’), referring to a continuous/flowing devotional composition.
मराठी ‘अभंग’ (abhaṅg) से, जिसका शाब्दिक अर्थ “अखंड/अविच्छिन्न” (a- ‘न’ + bhaṅg ‘भंग/टूट’) है; यह अर्थ निरंतर/प्रवाहमान भक्तिरचना की ओर संकेत करता है।
Definition
An abhang is a short devotional poem or song from Maharashtra, commonly sung in kirtan or bhajan traditions and closely associated with the Varkari movement and devotion to Vithoba.
अभंग महाराष्ट्र की परंपरा का एक छोटा भक्तिगीत/भक्तिकाव्य है, जो अक्सर कीर्तन या भजन में गाया जाता है और वारकरी संप्रदाय तथा विट्ठल (विठोबा) की भक्ति से विशेष रूप से जुड़ा होता है।
