From upland (“upper land”), from up + land; plural form uplands used for regions of higher ground and, by extension, the countryside.
upland (অর্থাৎ “উঁচু জমি/উপরের জমি”) শব্দ থেকে, যার গঠন up + land; বহুবচন uplands উচ্চভূমি অঞ্চল বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং প্রসারিত অর্থে শহরের বিপরীতে গ্রামাঞ্চল বোঝাতেও ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Definition
Uplands are inland areas of a country that lie at a higher elevation than surrounding lowlands, typically with rolling hills rather than steep mountains; the term can also mean the rural countryside in contrast to the town.
উঁচু জমি/উচ্চভূমি বলতে দেশের ভেতরের এমন অঞ্চলকে বোঝায় যা আশপাশের নিম্নভূমির চেয়ে বেশি উচ্চতায় অবস্থিত—সাধারণত টিলা-ঢেউখেলানো, তবে সাধারণত পাহাড়ি (পর্বতময়) নয়; কখনও কখনও শহরের বিপরীতে গ্রামাঞ্চল/পল্লী এলাকাকেও বোঝায়।
